We live in unprecendented times, and weddings reflect just that. We are coming out of the pandemic with fresh wedding trends that are a bit of an extreme from each other. These trends make every wedding accessible, and your vision of your big day possible. Here are the trends that we’ve been seeing in weddings.
Extravagant Weddings
Big weddings will never go away, especially in our tight knit culture of family and friends (and co-workers and old acquaintances and your neighbors and your mom’s best friend when she was in high school). This year though, we’ve been seeing ultra-glamorous, mega-extravagant weddings, particularly in the reception part.
We have the most talented stylists here in our country, so if you’re looking into having not just a big wedding, but one that wows everyone, then you will surely like this wedding trend!
Minimalist Weddings
On the other end of the spectrum is minimalist weddings – bare except for a bunch of flowers and some chairs. This is for the couples who 1.) like the aesthetics of minimalism, and 2.) just don’t want to go through all the works of a grand wedding. It has its own beauty if executed tastefully.
As with an extravagant wedding, a minimalist wedding reflects not only on the decor, but also on the attires of the couple, your guests, and even the little details such as the fonts on the invitation! It takes meticulous planning, but it’s going to be all worth it.
Eco-friendly Weddings
Conscious consumerism is gaining more and more traction, and is getting popular even among weddings. While eco-friendly would immediately give you a mental picture of burlap sacks, recycled paper and scraps of wood, it’s not necessarily just that.
For instance, you can go eco-friendly by going with dried or artificial flowers instead of fresh ones, choosing to forego balloons, fireworks, and any other detail that produces much waste, and even incorporating a little activity that promotes eco-friendliness.
There are a lot of wedding suppliers that have more environment-friendly approaches such as working with organic, small batch produced materials, using energy-saving equipment, etc.
Backyard & Home Weddings
While this has been a thing in other countries for a while, it took a backseat in the Philippines in the last couple of decades or so. Our moms got married in church and had their reception at home, right? Now though, we choose hotels for preps, halls for reception.
There are a few couples who opt to celebrate their wedding at home – especially if they’re having an intimate wedding with just family. Stylists have taken up to the challenge of working with backyards, garages, or even the family’s main living room. We love seeing the transformations, and we love even the ones that do not cover up how the house actually looks like. We love this trend, and we hope it’s here to stay.
