You’re engaged! Now what? Once you’re back on land after such a Cloud-9 moment, you can then begin to plan your wedding. It can be overwhelming to begin simply because there’s a lot that goes into making your wedding dreams come true.
So we asked esteemed wedding coordinator Kim De Guzman for the five things you need to do after you get engaged. These are the first steps, and will set the course for your whole wedding planning. The tiny details can come after these five steps.
1. Set a Date
“We encourage couples to involve both sides of the family in choosing a date. They might want to consider families, relatives, and friends outside the country. Other than that, most couples decide on a date that will most likely give them great weather. Take note that December to January is wedding peak season in the Philippines, if this is something you’re considering too.”
2. Discuss the Wedding Budget
“A major consideration in planning your dream wedding is the cost. Couples have the option to have an intimate, full or a destination wedding.”

3. Consult a Wedding Planner
“Do-It-Yourself or not, we highly recommend consulting a planning or coordinator prior to booking any suppliers.”

4. Choose your venue/s (Preparation, Ceremony and Reception)
“Venues are a major supplier for any event. Discuss your preferences and considerations with your coordinator especially if you’re having separate venues for the ceremony and reception.”
5. Make a list of your Wedding Entourage
“You want your wedding entourage to be complete on the day of your wedding. Informing them ahead of time is a must.”
There you have it! Thank you so much Kim for sharing your insight to our dear brides!
